Where do you read an item before a run?

Open Lab → Items in the original game. We read the English catalog in Beta v0.6.3 on 2026-10-18, without purchasing an upgrade or acquiring these items in a new run. The table is a selected reference, not an exhaustive database or a ranking.

Twelve selected item effects and caps

These are individual card descriptions and the maximum quantity shown by the catalog. They do not calculate your final damage. A rarity label does not establish which item is best for your current kit.

How do you match an item to a move?

Type, damage class and attack shape are separate conditions. Bulbasaur’s Vine Whip is Grass and Physical; Squirtle’s Water Gun is Water and Special, while Rapid Spin is Normal and Physical. Read each move instead of assuming that every attack shares its partner’s type. Choice items reduce attack speed, and Life Orb lowers maximum HP; we have not measured whether their damage gains compensate in a specific run.

How are vitamins and permanent upgrades different?

A vitamin is one kind of level-up offer; learning a move and improving an owned move are other choices. Our earlier controlled opening recorded Calcium changing the stats panel. That is separate from this catalog reading. The Lab also sells permanent upgrades: its Leftovers training card and a similarly named item are different entries. Use the pause screen to distinguish learned moves, vitamins and items.

What do caps and discovery mean?

The catalog separates items already in your Poké Balls, discovered items awaiting an unlock, hidden discoveries and archived items. Discovery is not the same as unlocking, and pool membership does not guarantee the next drop. The official v0.5.3 history reports enforced item maxima and additive same-kind bonuses. We have not independently tested every stack, damage group or capture condition. Master Ball’s wording is limited to Wild Encounters; it is not a complete capture walkthrough.

Sources and verification

Checked 2026-10-18, Beta v0.6.3, against the original English game, Lab → Items. All 12 selected names, effects, rarities and caps were read directly. The screenshot is ours. No full damage formula, item acquisition, stacking experiment, guaranteed build or capture test is claimed.

Continue with level-up choices, permanent Lab upgrades and dated balance changes.

v0.6.4 update and verification scope

Official release notes: Settings → Interface can hide corner run items; the original project also reports that long builds no longer cover the minimap. This is a display change, not a change to item effects or caps.

Our checks — 2026-10-19: In the original English game, Beta v0.6.4, we opened Settings → Interface and found Run items, with the help text “The pause still lists them all”. We switched it off, left Settings, reloaded, and confirmed it remained off; then restored the original on setting. This desktop browser check verifies the switch and its persistence only. We did not create a long build to test minimap overlap, reproduce weak-network review, or verify Safari audio recovery. Physical iPhone/iOS Safari testing remains deferred.

Read the dated notes and verification limits.
